Aloo — The Retro Handset
Answer your phone like it's 1975
USB-C, Lightning or 3.5 mm Jack — pick the plug that fits your phone.
Aloo is a full-size telephone handset that plugs straight into your phone. You pick it up, hold it to your ear, and a normal call feels like a call again — weight in your hand, a cord to twist, the sound right against your ear instead of buzzing off a slab of glass.
- Nothing to charge, ever — it takes what it needs from the phone. No battery, no pairing, no app
- Nobody hears your call but you — the sound stays in the earpiece, not in the room
- Built-in mic in the mouthpiece, so people hear you the way a phone was meant to work
- Answer and hang up on the handset itself — the button sits under your thumb
I got this for my mum — she is 81 and could never hold a flat phone against her ear for long. Now she picks it up the way she picked up the phone her whole life. She rings me every morning with her tea.
Sent the pink one to my daughter at college and she called me on it the same night. She says everyone on her floor has asked where it is from. Clear on my end, no echo, and there is nothing for her to remember to charge.
I am on calls most of the day and earbuds had finished off my ear. This has no battery to die halfway through a call and nobody else in the room hears the other side. The cord is longer than I expected, which turned out to be the point.
- Plug it in and it works — no charging, no pairing
- Free shipping on orders over $40
- Arrives damaged? One photo and we send another
- Doesn't fit or doesn't work? 30 days, money back

Answer your phone like it's 1975. Aloo is a full-size telephone handset that plugs straight into your phone. You pick it up, you hold it to your ear, and a normal call suddenly feels like a call again — weight in your hand, a cord you can twist, the sound right against your ear instead of buzzing off a slab of glass.
- Nothing to charge, ever — it draws what it needs from the phone. No battery, no pairing, no app. Plug it in and it works.
- Nobody hears your call but you — the sound stays in the earpiece, so the office, the bus and the kitchen stay out of your conversation.
- Built-in mic that people can actually hear — you talk into the mouthpiece the way a phone was meant to be used, not into your shoulder.
- Holds the phone away from your face — no more screen smudges, no hot glass on your cheek on a long call.
- Answer and hang up on the handset — the button is under your thumb, where your thumb already is.
- Six colours — blue, sky blue, orange, white, pink, black. It is a desk object as much as a phone accessory.
Everyone who picks it up does the same thing: laughs, then keeps using it. It is the gift people photograph before they even take it out of the box — and the one that ends up living on the desk instead of in a drawer.
If it doesn't fit your phone or doesn't work, tell us within 30 days and we replace it or refund you. Free shipping over $40.
Free shipping on orders over $40, otherwise $8.40. Delivery usually takes 8–14 days and you get tracking as soon as it moves.
Thirty days to change your mind. If it doesn't fit your phone or doesn't work, tell us and we replace it or refund you.
USB-C (Type-C) — iPhone 15 and every newer iPhone, almost every Android phone, and iPads or laptops with a USB-C port.
Lightning — iPhone 5 to iPhone 14 (including Plus, Pro and Pro Max) and iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation).
3.5 mm Jack — any phone, tablet or laptop with a round headphone socket, including iPhone 6s and older and iPhone SE (1st generation).
Not sure? Look at the port on the bottom of your phone: oval = USB-C, thin and flat = Lightning, small round hole = 3.5 mm.
A full-size receiver in soft-touch matte plastic, with a coiled cable that stretches as you move and pulls back when you put it down.
Six colours: blue, sky blue, orange, white, pink and black. Indoor use, wipe clean with a dry cloth.
The three things people ask first
Everything else is further down the page.
Pick the plug that matches your phone. USB-C (Type-C): iPhone 15 and newer, and almost every current Android. Lightning: iPhone 5 to iPhone 14 and iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). 3.5 mm Jack: anything with a headphone socket, including iPhone 6s and older.
No. There is no battery and nothing to pair. It draws what it needs from the phone, so it works the second you plug it in and it still works in three years.
Usually 8–14 days. Free over $40 and $8.40 under that. Tracking as soon as it moves.
The bit wireless gadgets get wrong
Every other accessory on your desk is asking to be charged. Aloo isn't. There is no battery inside it, nothing to pair, no firmware and no app — it takes its power and its audio down the same cable. Which means the day you need it, it works.
-
Plug in, talk
No pairing screen, no app, no account. It is a cable and a receiver.
-
Nothing to run out
It cannot die mid-call, because there is nothing in it to go flat.
-
Your call stays yours
The sound goes into your ear, not across the office or the kitchen.
Make the next call feel like something
Free shipping over $40 — two of them clear it.
Four steps, no setup
It arrives boxed
Receiver and coiled cable, in one piece. Nothing to assemble.
Plug it in
Straight into your phone — USB-C, Lightning or 3.5 mm. No pairing, no app, no account.
Take a call
Pick it up, hold it to your ear, talk into the mouthpiece.
Hang up on the handset
The button is under your thumb, where your thumb already is.
Leave it on the desk
It looks like an object, not like an accessory.
Watch who picks it up
Everyone does. That is the whole point.
It lives out on the desk
Most phone accessories end up in a drawer because they look like accessories. This one looks like a telephone. It sits next to the monitor, in a colour you chose, and it is the first thing anybody comments on when they sit down.
-
The home desk
Long calls without a hot phone pressed to your cheek.
-
The kitchen counter
Talk to your mother while you cook, hands where they should be.
-
The teenager's room
A cord to twist while they talk. They have never had one.
Sending it to someone?

The gift people photograph
It needs no explaining. They open it, laugh, plug it in — and it is on their desk that same afternoon instead of in the drawer with the other presents.
-
For the one who grew up with a landline
They will hold it before they say anything.
-
For the one who lives on calls
Recruiters, agents, support, anyone with an ear that hurts by 4pm.
-
For no occasion at all
Under $30 and it lands like you thought about it — because you did.
A plug for every iPhone, and almost every Android.
Blue, sky blue, orange, white, pink, black. Soft-touch matte finish.
Nothing to charge, nothing to pair, nothing to update.
If it doesn't fit or doesn't work, we make it right
Plug it in the day it lands. If it doesn't fit your phone, or it doesn't work the way this page says, tell us within 30 days and you get a replacement or your money back. If it arrives damaged, one photo and another is on its way — keep the broken one.
Still wondering?
Write to us and a person answers within one business day.
Ask us anythingYes — there is a microphone in the mouthpiece, where your mouth already is. That is usually clearer than a phone held at an angle or a hands-free speaker across the room.
Yes. Your phone treats it as a wired headset, so anything that makes a call through the phone goes through Aloo — regular calls, WhatsApp, Zoom, Teams, voice notes.
That is the idea. The coiled cable gives you room to put the phone down on the desk, look at the screen, or type — while the call stays at your ear.
Damp cloth on the outside, that's all. Don't put it in a dishwasher.
One photo to hello@meltnook.com and a replacement goes out. Nothing to post back.
Yes. We ship worldwide — the US, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Usually 8–14 days to the US, Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific, a little longer elsewhere, $8.40 flat and free over $40.
Parcels outside the US go out with duty unpaid, so import VAT and a small customs handling fee may be charged when it arrives. That is set by your own country and we cannot pay it for you. If checkout does not accept your address, write to us and we will sort it out.
